The project aims to build the companion software for a patent-pending device to unobstruct clots and drain blood from the brain on surgeries. Our main work was to develop an app that's able to read CT scans data, identify the physical device on the scans, and calculate the different trajectories the device offers for reaching the different parts of the brain. This work helps the surgeon identify, which is the best path to drain blood from the brain.

WHAT IS DICOM?
Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM)
DICOM is a medical imaging standard. Before DICOM each manufacturer had its own proprietary image format and communication protocols. This made creating software that uses medical imaging as an input, an herculean task.
DICOM ensures the interoperability of systems used to: Produce, Store, Display, Send, Query Process, Retrieve, and Print medical images and its related information. Medical software that works with images needs to be able to import DICOM files, as DICOM is used in virtually all hospitals worldwide.
Professional integration to your project
Software that implements DICOM has a double challenge, integrating the protocol and image processing. Both of these fields are complex in programming so not every developer would be a good fit, as they require experience to achieve your project goals.
