VALID EVAL • SECURE PLATFORM FOR HIGH-STAKES SELECTION DECISIONS

The product was built on trust. The technology couldn't be trusted.

Valid Eval brings integrity to high-stakes decisions across government, healthcare, and investment. But six development partners in, the platform itself was the thing standing in the way.

Six partners in, and the platform still didn't work.

Valid Eval had a serious mission: a secure SaaS platform that lets organizations evaluate large volumes of proposals and submissions at scale—reducing bias, standardizing criteria through rubrics, and producing defensible, audit-ready decisions. At the time, that mission reached across markets: government agencies running source selection, large healthcare organizations weighing initiatives, and healthcare VCs deciding which ventures to fund from many options.

What the company didn't have was a development partner who could actually build it. One well-regarded software dev shop burned six months and roughly $140,000 without producing a single usable result, leaving the company on the brink of insolvency. An offshore team failed on a thirteen-hour time gap and weak quality. By the time Ingenious came in, they were the seventh partner. The problem was never the vision. It was finding someone who could deliver it and stay.

“Never once have I felt that our investment of time and money was at risk. That, to me, is the most remarkable thing about working with Ingenious.”

A frontend rebuild that became a full rethink.

The first engagement was narrow: rebuild the frontend in React. It didn't stay narrow. The legacy backend was brittle enough that patching it onto a modern frontend made no sense, and it quickly became clear the product needed to be built properly, not preserved. That meant a much deeper engagement.

Ingenious guided the core technology decisions—settling on React through a process open enough that Valid Eval's product team came away confident it was right for the company—and built out the secure evaluation platform: rubric-driven scoring that standardizes non-numerical criteria, evaluator-to-proposal matching that reduces bias, and high-trust, audit-ready results.

Large fields of submissions, made comparable and defensible—whether the decision was a federal contract, a healthcare initiative, or a venture investment.

The difference was trust—earned in proximity and follow-through.

For a team that had been through six partners, trust was the whole question. Two things changed it. First, proximity: a roughly three-hour time difference instead of thirteen meant far more overlapping work, so issues got addressed in real time. Second, project management that was genuinely professional—and proactive. Ingenious didn't wait to be asked. They flagged risks before Valid Eval's product team saw them, and they never raised a hand without bringing a solution attached. The result was a partner they felt was as invested in Valid Eval's success as they were.

A platform can carry a mission of integrity and still be held back by the technology beneath it. Valid Eval's challenge wasn't the vision. It was finding a partner who could build it—and stay. Seven tries in, this work delivered both.
